A new baby

I finished this little pinwheel quilt this week, and have already posted it to it's new owner (a worlds record posting for me!). I did have a little pile of clothes etc as well, so I knew I'd better post soon or she'll be too big!

I used a vintage sheet on the back, so cute and easy.

A 'slightly scrappy' binding, 2 colours to blend the front and back together.

Straight line quilting (except this photo is of the wonkiest bit, but hey, wonk is fine!)

And again, yummy corners. I surprise myself every time they work, believe me.

Oh, and I have to show off my 'non gardening'. Most of the back and front look like this at the
moment....(weeds pretending to be grassy lawn)

But in a little neglected corner, a bit of beauty.

stuff again

I had 2 great finds at the oppy yesterday. I've just started a new job working from home- well, the car, really. So I needed a BIG bag to keep everything in, but found the wheely suticase too big- a brand new laptop bag for $9.99! It has the daggy Quicksilver logo on the front- but that may need to be covered up!

I also found this new wheely trolley, great for when I need to take sewing stuff
to a friends, well, it has 100 uses really! Also $9.99!

And some shots of the front garden- every day there are new ones open, so cute!

And that's my last post for a little minute- the computer is off to be looked at, it's been misbeahving and needs a makeover! Back soon....

The Op Shop (or Part 2)

So I thought I better show what Vinnies Daylesford has to offer, and my new goodies to work with. I hit the jackpot with books- vintage, Christmas (very important to someone whose child reads them for 6 months of the year!), another ABC knitted toys, and "It Really Is A Big Country"- published in 1981, it tells of all the Australian Icons- The Big Pineapple, the Big Banana and The Big Jam Tin, and another 49 good ones, some of which don't even exist anymore. Ahh, Aussie culture at it's best!

I also got a lovely little sheer polka dot blouse (which my neighbour recognised as something she had in her wardrobe at some point), and a bag of leather scraps for $2

oh, did I say how MANY leather scraps? A lot. No idea what I'll do with them yet, but I'll hang onto them, I think. Now I'm kicking myself I didn't get the other 2 bags there- could have made a leather patchwork something!!

Also happening in our little back yard- a new garden that my neighbour has helped Little Miss create. Here she is helping plant a lavender bush (so she can make a wheat bag like the one we bought at Lark)

and jumping for joy! She has her own tomato bush, and some flowers in the middle. (Hope I don't kill them). Hope she remembers to water them!

Busy Busy Busy

After procrastinating for a while (ok, the whole winter) I finally took a day off from inside duties (had to ask the boss- ie me!) and focussed on the backyard. the source of inspiration was the fact i'd have 3 kids to mind on Monday (today). So yesterday, Sunday, bright and early about 10am I borrowed a mower and got stuck into pruning, mowing and sand pit cleaning. The latter was hard, I had 2 bags of sand that had sat in water all winter, and it is heavy stuff! This back tree was overgrown onto the lemon tree, the back was very dark and is now so open and light. I hate gardening with a passion. This is why I am raving about my efforts! My landlords complained a few months ago I was keeping it how they like it, I successfully argued with them and they didn't come for the threatened inspection. Now I kind of want them too!
Lovely short grass, and note the edges- Ikea scissors! Must look like a loon doing them by hand, but the edges make the yard, I feel.
After pruning back this tree, found a birds nest. have to prune this one back as it is almost under the clothesline (not good forward thinking on that one). I wasn't sure when the nest was made, but this morning found a blue egg in it! It must have been laid last night or this morning. Pity 2 5yr old girls found it and brought it inside to show me......
And a box of lemon and mint to give to friends. Still have heaps of lemons on the tree, hope the pruning perks it up a bit (probably the worst time of year to prune, but hey, I only have one day where I feel this energetic!)

My good friend had her 3rd baby Fri night, 3 under 3, 18mths apart-egads! Haven't met her yet, but seen pics- will prob visit Thursday. Off to make some new baby goodies!
