Part 2

After the success of my bag, and having a calm child happy to let me sew for a change, I offered to make Little Miss a pinnie, coming into winter and all. It is my first 'made with an over locker' item, wow, no wonder it was done in a few hours!

The longest bit was her design on the front. I added the strip down the middle, and then she helped design the rest, right down to the size of the hearts and where she wanted them. I did some 'fancy' embellishing over the hearts with stitching, she was pretty impressed. Made a little mistake with the bias binding around the arms- anyone like it? May unpick the correct neckline and do it backwards too, why not? She is wearing it tonight to a sleepover. Have to remember not to use my bag at the same time!
Now the hardest thing is deciding what to make next- will be working on my quilt later during TV time, maybe I should quit while I'm ahead and do the ironing!

Easy like a Sunday morning

This daylight saving thing still has me stumped, you'd think after 34 yrs I would be fine, but no, I have to think and rethink and check and double check, and then I still think I have it wrong. Ok, so I gained an extra hr sleep? So my child woke at 6am, which yesterday would have been 7am- where is my extra hour?? By 9.30, I was over it and ready to go back to bed.

Instead, I set her up with some paints, and decided I needed a new bag. This one I made a few years ago, with a Simplicity pattern I can't find at all online (sorry, no link). It is a knitting bag, with batting in it, and this version is supposed to have ribbon on the outside, but I liked this fabric. I use it heaps, throw a few things and go, comfy on the shoulder etc.
But the straps were getting a bit thin, and I needed a change, so.....

yummy raspberries! I bought this remnant at Spotlight, and is rolled up pretty tight, I thought it was strawberries. I got a bit excited when I saw raspberries! I got so hungry!

Such an easy bag, my spotty bias has helped out, and some lining from an old sheet. My model of course gets some credit, as does the dog trying to get his nose in.

And just to show how easy the bag was, I made some raspberry white choc muffins (packet mix), so I can throw one at said child when I need a break!

A few projects

I finally saw a bit of sun today and remembered to take an outside photo of my quilt middle. It has actually turned out a bit smaller than it should, ?why. So a bit of adjusting for the other bits. Murray's blankie is hanging up behind it, an oppy find! (He's a stylish dog!)

I threw this together after seeing this one. I actually cheated and bought a cheap plastic one for $2 and used it as a pattern. Why can't I make things up? It's weird. I think it has to do with confidence, something I am very lacking in. Anyway, I have forgotten the handle at the top, but it's bright and cheery. Op shop doona, op shop bias binding.

This is the tee I have made for Little Miss, mentioned here. It will be worn in winter, too, over a spencer, but she happily wore it today and got it filthy, god love her.

I have finally started on her wardrobe makeover, the musty smell was getting worse, and I figured if it gets moved outside, and her clothes are all over the floor, my incentive has arrived. The white dots on the side are blu-tak! I have in mind a plan, but am open to suggestions! Outside will be gloss white, to make her other (Ikea) furniture, but I can't decide between paint or fabric for the inside. Red, pink or blue inside (her choices).

Finally, I found an old Family Circle dress up book today in an oppy, and look what I found in it! I think I'lll have nightmares! Who would do this to their child? I need therapy just looking at it, let alone being put inside it. Yuk!

WWW....on Thursday

This one is for Little Miss, a catch up forgetting yesterday, and a follow up on from My Creative Space.

She's worried it looks like a chef's hat, which maybe it does, but hey, it's my first one, and she's lucky I didn't send her in a dress up- bunny ears and a pom pom tail over her uniform. Am I a bad mother?
Thanks Fi for hosting again!

My Creative Space

I am playing along again with Kirsty this week, see if you can guess this important task:
cardboard
plastic eggs
chicks
ribbon
nesting material
Check this out to see who else is playing.

A bit more

Was pretty wrecked last night, but managed to sit through a bit of TV while I did my star (and the rest of the ironing!). I'm pretty happy with it, the next bit scares me, putting squares in the corners, lots of fiddling. The middle is a bit thick, but you can't notice here, I am a perfectionist but I also leave it if it only will make it worse!

I got this pile a while ago, but hadn't shown it off, what you can get for $1 at Vinnie's! (My $3 oilcloth tablecloth is still in constant use, I love it!). A packet of sewing needles is a great haul, as I break them a bit.

After a look around my house last night, I realised if someone broke in, I wouldn't know! It's a bomb site- too much sewing, not enough cleaning. I changed my sheets last night, pulling out a doona cover I hadn't used for a while, and the yucky musty smell has permeated through my bedroom, great. A dose of PMS combined with these issues has left me wanting to go back to said stinky bed and pull doona over my head, but I will tackle some cleaning first, then when my coffee wears off, have the nap. Then walk the dog, pick up child etc.....few, never ends!

Patchworking...

I found these last night when I pulled out the box with my quilt pieces in it. I got them months ago at Threadbear in Castlemaine, not sure what I'd do with them, but loving them anyway. Have a project in mind, but have to finish my own quilt first!

And here is tonight's work. There are 8 of the big diamonds to attach together, after joining all the little f*&^%$s, and unpicking and restitching so the points are all perfect. My back hurts!! Luckily all the little pieces were cut out already, ie 2 yrs ago, so a bit was done. Unfortunately the pink and white stripe were nowhere near the shape needed, so I had to redo them.

It will look pretty impressive as the Prairie Star alone, bit scared about putting the squares in the corners! Hopefully I'll be doing that at Perle 8's Thursday night, people around who may be able to help me. Don't know what it is about me and patterns, I never go for easy, only advanced!
