Kid clothes

 I haven't forgotten about my gorgeous girl in the clothes making mission! Not that I can call her clothes 'kid clothes' for much longer! I've had to make her the size 12 in this pattern, and as fans of these patterns know- they only go to a 12! My girl is growing up!

Recognise the fabric from Friday's post? I had this top in mind when I first saw it here!

 and then the shorts! The fabric was chosen by me- she'd been nagging me for some animal print for the Firefly jacket I want to make her. But I thought it a bit grown up- and when I saw the pink, I decided if she liked it (a self declared pink hater, apparently) I'd make the shorts.

There are some other great versions here. It's hard to see the trim as I didn't make it contrasting, but I thought there was enough goin' on in these shorts already for a contrasting trim! Oh, and no pockets, which may turn a lot of kiddies off! (Don't think Little Miss has noticed yet).

  

Easy elastic waist. There's not really any 'trying on and adjust the length' in these, either; she questioned the high rise of the waistband a bit too (I told her that's the best way to wear them- shhhhh!)

 She assures me she'll wear them!

New tops

 I thought I'd spare you all more white legs and bad posing...

I added to my 3 stretchy tops- some wovens. 

I've made this pattern before, and like it. But I think they are a tad short now, and a bit unstructured. I might need to play around with some darts or something.

I used a Lisette cotton voile, on the clearance table at Spotlight.

Vintage thrifted binding.

My girl calls this a 'Curlypops' top (she knows of Cam's fondness for orange and pink!)

I made a 2nd one in a Tana lawn, also on the clearance rack. I had to take the sides in a little on this one though.

 Then I made 2 Wiksten tanks- this, my new favourite fabric EVER! 'Summer chill voile' from Spotlight. There is just no fault with this pattern! I have seen a blogger I love has made the Wiksten tank with Grainline Scout sleeves- think I'm going to try that next, as the hemline and length are just perfect!

  and the first one I made (and last one I posted haha) is from a Japanese Seersucker (brown with turquoise spot) form- you guessed it, Spotlight!

Still gotta start making pants, but the satisfaction of more hand made than store

 bought is very high!

New projects

 I have a whole bunch of new stuff I want to make at the moment. I started to make a list, and it was getting a bit big!

A new blanket has been cast on for Henry.

 

And I've joined in a monthly sampler... those deer sucked me right in!

I'm revisiting the hexies too, a nice quick craft for the couch. the plan is to make some purses for a market stall I'm thinking of doing in March... 

I had to show off this great sheet set I was gifted by Cam, either to use as sheets or cut up for quilts.

 Definitely to make something for this little dude! 5 weeks and he fits into this size 0 vintage onesie (found in Little Miss' old toy clothes :) )

Xmas sewing

So it wasn't a big frenzy of sewing this year, I had a few little things to make, and could easily do them over the Xmas break. The things for me, of course, have all had to wait though :(

I had a Kris Kringle (or Secret Santa) gift to make for my work Xmas party- which I left at home on the night, so my boss ended up getting it, she being the one who handed them all out and got the last one! I based it on this tutorial- really fun and a great scrap buster! Suffice to say my boss was pretty happy with it! (phew!)

 I wanted to make my sister something, and ended up making 2 of them so she could pick the fabric she wanted! I bought this pattern when they had a sale recently, a pdf download, and used my new fave spray glue with it (told you I was obsessed!) The yellow leather wasn't the best choice, a bit too stiff, but the soft blue one was lovely.

 I'll try and get a pic of the back one that she chose next time I see her!

Oh, Henry got some Christmas pants to wear on Christmas Day- they are a 0-3mth size and fit him perfectly in the leg at 2weeks of age! Uh-oh....

This was what "Santa" brought me for Xmas...

Now to stop making things for everyone else and spend some time on me...maybe.

Oh, a sneak peek at Henry's mobile I put together on Boxing Day! I think there will be much better pics when it's up and against the white wall (nudge nudge to the B.I.L to hang it!)

Blogtoberfest Day 15

OK, I'm back with more pics! Aren't you glad I split them up? This one's fabric porn at it's best!

These gorgeous little goodie bags were made up by one the group, Cathy, who also ran a great trivia quiz (We didn't win that one )

 

Inside were these goodies (different fabric for each person, I thought I got pretty lucky!)

The purple tape measure is like no other- it's 3m long! Perfect for quilters, hey?

 

 Also throughout the day were the 'lucky door prize', everyone got a raffle ticket and there were random draws throughout the day. And the best bit, so there were no tanty's at the party, were that 'each kid got a prize' haha. I got a 1/2 mt of fabric of my choice- I'd say this was pretty choice! (sorry for that bad pun!)

Another quilter, Kellie, gave me her leftover block- she did a gorgeous quilt with this style blocks, and lovely bright colours. Right up my alley! I'm thinking I'll add some plain borders and have a spunky new cushion for my bed!

Sigh, and there's more! There's was a discount on the day, from the shop downstairs, which is of course torture when you're sitting above it for 12hrs- I thought I was quite restrained actually! Oh, and the roll of thread I'm quilting the custom quilt with, I needed a lighter grey.

Oh, and the last project I spent a bit of time on is a custom order for some scrappy coasters!

Here's a little fact too- the MMQG is free to join, and a small charge to attend the Sit n Sew's.(usually $10). A few members argued that the $49 for this whole day and the above goodies was too much, but I was pretty bloody happy! And thanks to Aunty Jess for babysitting to let me enjoy time with my mates!

I'm not a fan of facial hair at all, either on men or women, all the moustaches I've encountered are bristly and tickly. Plus my dad has one, can't imagine dating someone that reminds me of my dad!

But cartoon 'taches are the bomb!

So I asked my crafty friend Manda about some pins. She made me some earlier for another (still obsessed) craze.

I mentioned yesterday I'd come back and show you the 'special' items from our Daylesford/Bendigo day trip.

I scored this chenille bedspread at the MS shop in great condition for...$6.50! Unheard of in Melbourne oppys.

I have a few baby quilts to make, this will be good for the back (of the girl's ones)

My sister found this panel of 'Alice in Wonderland' fabric at the Lark sale

while I was over scoring this amazing Magic Roundabout bedspread. such an amazing vintage piece! (there is a remade version of this show, but the original is always the best)!

I also found this circus themed barkcloth looking piece, a curtain. Amazing, isn't this? It will be hard to cut into this!

And a new nightie- she picked the sheep fabric a while ago for pj's, but loved the nightie idea. If only we'd bought enough for long sleeves!
