Blogtoberfest '10 day 31- Round up

I know, we are all done I was a bit slacker this year, exp towards the end- I was just so dammed tired by the time I got to Blog O'Clock.

So I thought I'd show you a few days worth of stuff on the last day, I don't know when I'll be back haha.

A (now finished) project, and a good reason to visit Nikki....(supplies)

My lovely garden, after my mower boy (with  broken mower) came and gardened for me (yep, I sewed while he gardened, bliss).

No kid dressing up for Halloween- how did that even creep into out society? I don't get it. But the chance for a doggy fashion parade, free sausages, prizes etc made me whip up this pirate outfit....

get the kid to walk down the catwalk (or 'dog walk')

face painting and a photo shoot of child and dog got me there.

Phew, what a day!

Thanks to Cam and Cathy for hosting, I won a giveaway, had 2, and have read through all the Blogtoberfester's, but hey, I have a year to do that, I don't think that list is going anywhere! (Cathy, don't delete that list, OK?)

(Oh, and I did the whole thing without a proper camera, pretty happy about that- er, not not having a camera, the fact that I have photos to show!)

Blogtoberfest '10 day 26

My giveaway time!

I've been a bit under the weather this week, tired and emotional (or Temotional as I like to call it).

So have missed a few days, sorry about that!

I've been making a few b'day pressies, so can't show you any pics anyway!

I used the Random Number generator, which told me Follower number 88!

I decided to count from the beginning, so that person is........

KRAFTY PANDA! She who does the amazing pins, check out her pumpkins!

I have a few ideas of what to send you, but I'll send you an email and we'll discuss further!

Thanks for all my follower/friends, you give me a reason to keep on blogging!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 24

The day came out beautifully for some pics- of my new 'couch/cuddle' quilt. Actually, a 'because I like
jelly rolls' quilt. It looks a tinge orange-y in this pic;

this is a better idea of the colours. I used my gifted piece of FMF, and the
purple-y one above it was extra, too. I wanted it a bit bigger than the last one.

The purple chenille backing is thick and cosy;

Today was another babysitting day, as this boys mum's had a birthday! She was taken out for lunch, so I had my sewing helper and his sister; after helping me with some binding on a quilt, I added a handle to a pre-made bag, and he was set!

Perfect for his hat, sunnies and drink. (I love these man bags, but didn't have the time!)

 The girls liked it!

We did go to the park, but the small one- I wasn't risking a heart
attack by carrying a 3 yr old up 'Death Hill' again!

EDIT: Nearly forgot to add my Blogtoberfest giveaway! Actually, each day I keep forgetting, so I went back and remembered:

I am 2 followers off 100! Yay! So whoever becomes a follower by Wednesday the 27th October will be in the running  for a mystery prize! If I don't reach 100 by Wednesday, the giveaway won't be on! Yes, blatant bribery at work, my blog, don't care!

So 2 or more followers and one of you wins a prize!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 22

I've had my work cut out for me today.
Babysitting 2 boys, 4 and 6, and my little miss. Tricky, you ask?
No way, easy peasy.
Except when I had to follow them up what I refer to as 'Death Hill'

Named this because I feel like death when I reach the top!
A park at the top, and this one on the walk home makes it all worthwhile- me to sit
and watch, them to tire themselves out!

I'm loving the fact that the kid is wearing my knitting needle bangles
I made last night, think she'll keep them.

Think I've earned some sewing time now!

My Creative Space Blogtoberfest '10 Day 21

Well, I decided what to do with my half square triangles-  I can't remember how I found this, but I liked it!

My version has a bit missing- luckily I ordered some more of Etsy last week to do a pieced backing,. this I'll squeeze out a few more triangles!

And the biggest thrill of the...err, day? 1st mango of the season! She always leaves me the seeds!

Thinking I'll buy a box this year!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 20

No photos today, guys, I'm letting the professionals take over.

err, at least they take their shots in the day, with a proper camera, anyway.

It's a little post about being grateful for all the amazing people I've met through blogging, who help build my confidence by asking me to make things for them! And loving them! And loving a surprise thing too!

Take my friend Ms Curlypops. She asked me to make these quilts a while ago, and I kept umming and ahhing, procrastinated, couldn't start- then I got to it, and made these! AND they love them. Can you believe how good the sizing is (to fit the toddler bed)? I didn't even mesaure them! Fluke! Unfortunately the twins only remember me from the night I babysat with Cam,. when I tried to get them bed- the fear in their faces when they saw me the other week will be with them a long time, I"m sure.

Ms Leni and Rose asked me to make this dress for her little one, which was awesome! I'd never have put these fabrics together, in fact, I probably couldn't afford to buy them either, so it was more fun than anything to make it for her. And the fact she likes it? Better than money (even though that does make my world go around haha).

Finally, my pen-ultimate surprise! After hearing her little one's name (Huckle), I knew I just HAD to find me some Richard Scarry fabric, and make him something. Oh, and because i've met her and like making baby things, and wanted to try out Kate's pattern! Great tutorial + great fabrics + a nice person to gift them too = happy chappy ME!

Hope you have a good read of my friend's blogs, if you haven't already. In fact, I've kind of dragged them into Blogtoberfest in a way, yay!

PS Someone is making something for me, well, for Little Miss, I can't wait to show you progress shots soon!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 19

Can you tell which op shop I picked up at the oppy today?

Now who would pay money for a crappy old iron like mine? It was smelling bad, had been dropped, and didn't really get that hot anymore- but when I came across this little beauty....

for $8, I was sold. I mean, it couldn't be any worse than mine, could it??????

Quilting along (Blogtoberfest '10 day 17b)

Have to show off what I've been working on for 2 days. No housework, just fun this weekend, the kid got to do it, so can I!
So this is another Spotlight Jelly Roll (on special for VIP's), with my Flea Market Fancy FQ gifted to me. It's a bit bigger than the last jelly roll one I did for the couch, but this one is for the couch as well.

I bought an American Jane Happy Camper 'turnover' off a chicky de-stashing. I wasn't sure what to do at first, but waited for inspiration. I found the 'dijon' colour homespun at Spotlight as well, these 2 quilts are turning into a bit of a bargain, actually. Backing for the stash, I may splurge and buy some good quality batting!

Off to iron!

Flea Market Finds (Blogtoberfest '10 Day 17)

Some people think op shops are full of old used stuff.

But, these definitely aren't used, all sealed in their boxes. For 50c a box!
They are the small size, handy for nearly everything! Cheaper than Costco!

(this will last me a while, don't worry!)

Blogtoberfest '10 day 16 (and a half)

OK, last one, I promise! I couldn't resist, it looks so pretty. My all homemade bed linen! The bottom sheet- vintage flat sheet turned into a fitted sheet; doona covers and pillow cases, and of course, my quilt. Yummy!

I was thinking today how nice it is to company when I sew. Maybe people think I
get a lot done on my own; there's always an obstacle around here!

And in a Masterchef moment- YUMMO! Recipe from here; ingredients from here. No, I won't make an ad to go with it! I of course stuffed up and bought the pink tuna, but splurged and bought the Panko crumbs, the most used ingredient on that show, I think. Fancy! And I'm pretty lucky, the coleslaw was gobbled up too, she's got a good palate that kid.

And today she finished my friendship bracelet, which I now have to wear continuously.
And say 'best friends forever' a lot.

Cute!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 16

Missed another day somewhere, oops! Oh, well!

Today was a meant to have a bit of house cleaning done- a morning out, a nap,
and now....the 2nd pillowcase needs doing! I ran out of the same orange I put on the back
of the doona cover, so substituted one. And this one has turned out a little big, so have
 to remeasure.

This little puppy went off to the groomers

and came back The Dude! He lurves being groomed, and after I trimmed
him into a girly looking dog,
thought he better get his groove back- he's so cute!

Heating up the bedroom (day 15)

No, no one else coming into the household, not the heating up of that kind!
I'm talking about bed linen!
Yep, I can really see myself adding this kind of stuff to the beccasauras range. I lurve manchester!!!

Orange vintage sheet goodness from Curlypops (one of my freebies from the Stash Busting Day), so I have her to thank for my 'Sunshine Doona Cover'!!

Off to whip up some pillowcases!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 13 Self Portrait

After taking the first pic, I did a full face one- I have serious eye drooping issues on the right side. So I may now become the Phanton of the Opera and wear half a mask...or call myself Harvey Two-Face!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 12

This is it. The most boring day. Ever.

Work. Ironing. The most boring blog post. Ever.
Here's hoping tomorrow has some excitement.

Blogtoberfest '10 day 11?

I think I'm on track. I thought I'd show you my new W.I.P. which has already been overlooked tonight for the ironing. I have a floor in my bedroom, and I'm determined to see it!
So, anyway, it's a vintage sheet and white doona cover, yep, that's right, NOT a quilt!

The reason? After many trials and errors, the humble doona is my 'sleep association', the weight is perfect, and a quilt just isn't heavy enough. Together, though, the doona and the quilt rock! So this is my way of having a little vintage all the time, with lots of different quilts to use when needed.
I'm going to overlock/serge this one together, very 'un-traditional', but hey, it's the '10's!
Oh, and definitely NO to top sheets under the doona. How can you wrap
yourself up in it like a caterpillar? have you had this discussion with anyone? It's like the toilet paper over or under the roll kind of discussion. We're all a bit different haha.

Blogtoberfest '10 day 10

The Little Miss and I jumped in the car today, and headed out west. We were on a mission.

while she chilled, watched Skippy and made friends with Houdini (not her foot, by the way)

the Stash Busters and I wreaked havoc! But don't feel too sorry for us- b'day cake, pressies and fabric....

Heaven!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 9

I received a lovely pressie from Kate last weekend, who came to say hi at the market with her girls (Happy Birthday Jazzy!) After the kerfuffle we both had with the Djorte pants, I made Jazzy a few pairs as well as my little one, and in return Kate made me this! Hand crocheted ric rac, so lacy trim and a heart pincushion, I heart it all so much! Oh, it was wrapped in the cute curtain, hmmm, what to make that into?
I made Little Miss some summer pj's out of my favourite pj pattern, they are being worn tonight despite being a bit cool for them yet. Oh, well, extra blankets then!

An adventure tomorrow to Ms Curlypops's, to help her destash...it's a hard life!

Blogtoberfest '10 Day 6 (cheating)

So this is the post I wanted to do yesterday, but didn't get around to it! Remember this? It has become this bag, so cute I think.

I up-cycled some denim from a pair of jeans expensive 7 For All Mankind jeans I got at the oppy),
so hexie-like lining, and Bob's your uncle!
