Market shots

I had a great time yesterday at Thread Den's inaugural handmade market. There is going to be another one, watch this space, or head over to there website and check out classes etc.

Here are some pics of my stand...taken from a 5 yr olds perspective, i guess.

There were kid activities, of course, face painting, jewellery and brooch making. Here is a great necklace with paper beads Little Miss made.

My friend Serena came and helped out at the stall, giving us both time to shop and craft! We became a big fan of the cross stitch brooch....

Unfortunately today I woke up with the old razor blades in the throat, my friend tonsillitis and I are well accquainted, having encountered each other about twice a year since childhood. So a quiet day was attempted with the boy. Some button play was a big hit!

The Thornbury Craft Bonanza met up today, and I scored these amazing fabrics of Hoppo Bumpo. She will be kept in a lifetime of fleece for these ones!

The 2nd best thing about visiting a new burb (besides visiting friends that is) is checking out their local op shops. They must have been waiting for me :)

A Smurf sheet! I have been looking forever for one of these. I initially thought it was a doona cover, and when I went "oh, a sheet" Little Miss (Resourceful) piped up and said "you can still cut it up, Mum!).

And vintage sheets a la what-was-on-my-bed-as-a-child. I think mine were handmade, these seem bought, but I'm still in love with the fabric (the big break of about 20 yrs between using them and finding them has helped!

Ahh, a great day, lots of fun, sewing laughing at distasteful jokes, chockie cake and the rest. Can we do it next week?

As Promised....

Tonight was THE night. After a dress rehearsel, a matinee and tonight's perfomrnace, I am Mamma Mia'd out! I feel like i've had a huge night out and we were home by 8.30pm!

My Creative Space

My creative space this week is un-felting.

Hmm. A new crafty term?

No, I don't think so.

Probably not, this isn't the first time.

Shoe luck

Have had a bit of oppy luck lately with my shoes. I went into Savers on Monday hoping to find some runners- hello! There they were, $7. Not for running, of course, just for wearing with trackies, so I look sporty haha. And a cool pink.

Added some more vintage books to my collection. The May Gibbs one is very popular with the Little Miss. I have serious Jean Greenhowe collection now, with no intention of making any toys, just looking and collecting. And kids quilts are always fun.

My sewing this week, as all the ABBA costumes are done, (and pics will be posted after the performances on Thursday) are 2 of these dolls, for Little Miss's friends birthday presents. I hope I do the pattern justice, Jhoanna makes these look gorgeous!

Also a few new things for my market at ThreadDen this Sunday.

Oh, and another new thing...err...clean thing actually. A spunky hair cute and new collar and lead for my little boy. A bit more masculine than the pink and blue one he had. His purple vinyl coat with go beautifully (when his mum finally gets around to making it that is!)

To market To market

Today was a fun day the the Yarraville Market, setting up my first market stall! Thanks to all the lovely bloggers I've met and chatted too since starting this blog, my confidence has soared and I was ready to get out there.

I went expecting to sell nothing but meet some people, and I was not disappointed, in fact, a few of my favourite fabrics (made into tees and quilts) are now in new homes.

We had a lovely neighbour, Kate who helped me out when food and nature called me and Little Miss.

This gorgeous card was bought, many others were too cute as well, Kasey has heaps of handmade cards and does Stampin Up! Workshops.

Kate sold Little Miss this cute card, which has been written in and given to me for being a great mum (awww!).

Little Miss has the class cheetah Alfie for the weekend, who came and helped out with Cubby, whom we adopted from Australia Zoo.

I'll be there next month, and hopefully a few after. Come and say hi, like Curlypops, Tinniegirl and Meg's Threads did. SewHum was there, as was Totally Innocent (fab organisation) and others I didn't get a chance to meet this time.

The first Sat of the month is proving busy, but make time for lots of cool handmade things, and yummy breakfasts and lunches. This blog may help you out, or pick your own. We'll see you there?

Oh, by the way, next Sunday is the first market for Thread Den- i'll be there, with heaps of others, undercover and all handmade! Yay!
