I like the fact you can click on a fabric, and it shows something it's made in, and you can click on alternate colours to match them up, too easy. And we all know how good the dollar is (groan, more shopping!)

One of those days

USB cable inserted into camera....not working

Sewing machine 1 (my one) attempting yet another buttonhole.....not working

Sewing machine 2 (mother's old one and soon to be Little Miss's) attempting any kind of sewing....not working.

Coffee machine....WORKING! Thank God, because if it wasn't for iced coffee, I'd collapse. This funny girl sounds a lot like me!! This post seriously cheered me up- i'm not the only one!

But, in all my sweatiness/unproductiveness (and making up of really long, wrong bad words) I have commented on a few blogger's today who also share a birthday week with me, being this week. I am calling us 'Novemberians', more to the point Scorpions!! So anyone else out there that will survive this heatwave to feel older by the end of this week or next, say hi and spread the birthday cheer...Hip Hip....Hooray.

Signs of Summer

Hmm, global warming has a lot to answer for! Hot or cold, no in between! Today was definatley a hot one- and my summer faves have all popped up.

Like salad dinners. this one in a yummy roll. Actually we had them for lunch, too, I am so rapt that Little Miss is eating lettuce! She realises she gets to say 'poo' when she does, as in 'it makes my poo soft'- hey, I have to get her to eat it somehow! My grandfather used to say 'lettuce cleans your blood'- not as exciting too a potty mouth age school kid!

Murray got a trip to the beach- a little section where dogs rule the roost, and get to cool down, and makes friends with other dogs and people.

All tuckered out.....

oh, and you know the man in the red suit is just around the corner when these some out- Bakers Delight mince pies, and their new Lemon Tart. I could take or leave the lemon tart, but there mince pie- I'm glad I didn't buy a six pack. Although it's better than a six pack of beer!!

An Awesome Saturday

Yay, Saturday the 7th finally rolled around, and I was off to the purse course. Unfortunately it was nada for the babysitting, but it turns out she was quite handy as a photographer...

A bunch of crafty women....

all putting together their first purses with frames. Lots of ironing as usual!

Fueled by coffee and yummy snacks (had to go out and buy the red capsicum dip today!)

and I have this snazzy purse to show for it. Fabric from my pal Liesel.

I soooo recommend Nikki's classes, even though you can read the pattern and get great tips and make it at home, having someone to ask 'is this ok?" is just the best. Even better, you go home so inspired to make more and more. Not to mention the fun and good chats. And the studio of products.....Now just to get some frames and Xmas shopping is half done!

Suprise! (Friday's post)

I was sick this morning, and had a day in bed with the Little Miss, who was recovering from her school sleepover (eek, only 8hrs sleep, she can't cope!) Imagine my joy when I finally was able to get out of bed, and a package had arrived....

I love that crafters wrap in fabric, it makes us unique, I think. Always thinking ahead!

When I opened it up, I saw the mecca of giveaways- including 2 fabrics I never thought I'd find, the orangey floral and Heather Ross bicycles. Plus books, patterns, fabrics, a pincushion and buttons! I'll be looking at it for ages, and hopefully using it all for great projects. Thanks Selina!

Selina's also hosting a vintage sheet swap- what a great way to get some new colours, without having to store the whole sheet!

This pattern was snatched up by Little Miss as soon as she saw it- and I was promptly asked to make it for her as a birthday present. I was dubious, only because after 2 days it may be forgotten about, but I thought I'd try it, outside my comfort zone and all. I grabbed the linen look one for the body's, and the mushroom one for.....er, me. Too cute.

Friday night ended up with the first basketball game. All these little kids with not much of an idea how to play- more of an idea than me, who'll be scoring soon!

What's Hot

• Scoring old Enid Blyton books at Savers. $4.99 each and the new cover reprinted ones are $9.99 each.
• Giving other cars your parking meter ticket when you have time left on it :)
• Grey haired gentleman walking down the street in Footscray- in pantyhose and black heels. Drag queen breaking in new shoes maybe?
• School sleepover tonight. A very excited nearly Grade 1 child. And free babysitting for me!
• Six Feet Under. New to me and I'm in love with it.

What's Not

• Security guards at Ascot Vale Vinnies. Sad that that is necessary.
• Statewide Sewing Centre not open as a class was on, and I needed help with my automatic buttonhole!
• Parking meter tickets installed in Footscray so it will cost me money to go to Savers.
• Washing up.

The Op Shop (or Part 2)

So I thought I better show what Vinnies Daylesford has to offer, and my new goodies to work with. I hit the jackpot with books- vintage, Christmas (very important to someone whose child reads them for 6 months of the year!), another ABC knitted toys, and "It Really Is A Big Country"- published in 1981, it tells of all the Australian Icons- The Big Pineapple, the Big Banana and The Big Jam Tin, and another 49 good ones, some of which don't even exist anymore. Ahh, Aussie culture at it's best!

I also got a lovely little sheer polka dot blouse (which my neighbour recognised as something she had in her wardrobe at some point), and a bag of leather scraps for $2

oh, did I say how MANY leather scraps? A lot. No idea what I'll do with them yet, but I'll hang onto them, I think. Now I'm kicking myself I didn't get the other 2 bags there- could have made a leather patchwork something!!

Also happening in our little back yard- a new garden that my neighbour has helped Little Miss create. Here she is helping plant a lavender bush (so she can make a wheat bag like the one we bought at Lark)

and jumping for joy! She has her own tomato bush, and some flowers in the middle. (Hope I don't kill them). Hope she remembers to water them!
